Mar 22, 2010 (newstodate): The Icelandic company Avion Aircraft Trading is among the launch customers for the new Airbus A330-200F aircraft, but there is still no solution to the issue of placing the new aircraft.
In 2007, Avion Aircraft Trading placed orders with Airbus for delivery in 2010/2011 of a total of eight A330-200F aircraft, originally destined for use by Icelandair Cargo.
The carrier, however, changed its decision in April, 2008, canceling its agreement with the leasing company and leaving AAT with the contract.
-We have agreed with Airbus to delay the delivery of the aircraft, and no new date for first delivery has yet been fixed, says David Masson, AAT managing director.
-Airbus has been most supportive towards us, acknowledging the difficult situation of the industry in general and our special problems in special. With a revised delivery scheme times may prove more gentle and make it easier for us to find operators for the aircraft, says Mr Masson.
