Mar 16, 2010 (newstodate): Air Greenland is in the process of selling its single Boeing 757-200 aircraft, as decided already in 2009.
-So far we have signed a LoI with the buyer, and the first installment has been deposited, says Michael Binzer, Air Greenland CEO.
-We are consequently now planning for this summer's traffic on the route between Copenhagen and Narsarsuaq, till now operated with the Boeing 757 aircraft.
According to sources in the market, the Boeing 757-200 will be sold to the UK company Cargo Lease Capital that will convert it into a freighter during May, 2010, to be placed on a leasing contract with a new operator.
After the sale, Air Greenland's only remaining wide-body aircraft for Atlantic services is an Airbus A330-200 aircraft that operates the route at Kangerlussuaq as well as performing ad-hoc charter flights.
In parallel to the sale of the Boeing 757-300 aircraft, Air Greenland is preparing for delivery of its first two ex-Horizon Air Bombardier Dash 8 Q200 aircraft.
The aircraft will be delivered by the end of May, 2010, and the first aircraft is currently in the painting shop in Canada.
