Mar 19, 2010 (newstodate): An AN-26 freighter from the Polish carrier EXIN performed a successful emergency landing on the frozen waters of Lake Ulemiste, near Tallinn Airport in Estonia.
The freighter was en-route from Helsinki Airport, Finland to Tallinn Airport as it experienced problems with its landing gear, making the planned landing at Tallinn Airport impossible.
As the aircraft next developed problems with one engine it was forced to land on the lake, but no fatal injuries to either crew or passengers are reported.
The aircraft, operated for DHL, is now being secured from breaking through the ice and sinking into the lake which provides the capital of Estonia with drinking water.
