Mar 08, 2010 (newstodate): In February 2010, Estonia's Tallinn Airport again confirmed its leading role in the Baltic air cargo scene.
The airport handled a total of 2,044 tones of cargo and mail, up 11.2 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the growth is the airport's dominating import cargo that grew 10.4 percent to 1,865 tonnes while air cargo exports only totaled 112 tonnes, albeit growing by 46.1 percent, y-o-y.
After the first two months of 2010, total volumes were 13.2 percent, y-o-y, to 4,140 tonnes, with import cargo growing 13.3 percent to a total of 3,798 tonnes.
The strong growth reflects the resurgence of ex-China exports to Russia, transiting through Tallinn Airport.
