Mar 08, 2010 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier may have reconsidered its decision to open flights from Riga, Latvia, to Tehran, Iran
The new route offering three weekly rotations was announced to start from June 8, 2010, but the destination has since disappeared from the carrier's website, and Tehran is also not now included in the booking system on the website.
Sources claim that the deletion of the route is caused by expectations of new upcoming UN sanctions on Iran, but no official comments from airBaltic are yet available.
On a similar note, Lufthansa has also canceled plans for introduction of flights on a new route from Munich to Tehran, slated for launch from this summer schedule.
