Mar 09, 2010 (newstodate): Denmark's Copenhagen Airport saw its total cargo volumes down by 10.1 percent, y-o-y, in 2009.
The airport handled a total of 312,179 tonnes of cargo in 2009 against 347,156 tonnes in 2008.
The comparison is, however, strongly tainted by the fact that DHL Aviation closed down its traffic at Copenhagen Airport where the company's Baltic Hub was closed down following its strategic decision to focus all European hub functions at Leipzig Halle Airport from 2009.
Compared to 2008, Copenhagen Airport's import volumes dropped 12.4 percent to 41,542 tonnes, and exports fell seven percent to 40,443 tonnes.
Worst hit were, however, the airport's dominating transfer volumes that were down 10.3 percent, to 220,193 tonnes.
