Feb 09, 2010 (newstodate): As a last-minute offer, a company named Alpha Transit has stepped in to save the development of Ukraine's Lutsk Airport, in the country's Volyn province.
The majority stake in the airport was put on a tender by the end of last year, but failed to attract bids other than Alpha Transit.
The tender was called off, but the company has now renewed its offer in an effort to save the airport.
Alpha Transit will commit itself to pay off the airport's creditors, reconstruct the existing 1,660 m runway and taxiways, build a new apron and modernize the existing terminal.
All works must be completed before Euro 2012 in Ukraine.
Lutsk Airport will serve as a back-up for Lviv Airport and is now only used by smaller aircraft.
