Feb 16, 2010 (newstodate): Finland's largest helicopter airline, Copterline Limited has now folded its rotor blades and filed for bankruptcy.
The carrier operated a route between Helsinki, Finland, and Tallinn, Estonia, offering up to 14 daily flights at its peak.
The service was set up on May 5, 2000, with the company's Sikorsky S-76 helicopter with maximum 12 passengers plus cargo that was later replaced by Eurocopter EC 135 helicopters for emergency and medical service operations from three different bases in Finland.
The carrier experienced a fatal accident with the S-76 on August 10, 2005 after take-off from Tallinn, and the carrier never managed to return to profitable operations thereafter.
Copterline attempted to resume passenger services on the route again, but stopped in December 2008, turning to emergency and medical services that are also now a thing of the past.
