Feb 09, 2010 (newstodate): Serbia's Nis Konstantin the Great International Airport is fighting for a role in the country's aviation scene.
The City Council of Nis has now announced its decision to land a contract with Montenegro Airlines as part of its effort to promote traffic.
As part of the effort, Montenegro Airlines will renew its registration at Nis, preparing for launch of fresh business.
Re-opened in October, 2003, after being closed and damaged during the Balkan civil wars and then re-constructed with Norwegian assistance and funding, Nis Airport is currently served only by JAT with two flights to Zurich, Switzerland, which is inadequate to maintain the airport on business conditions.
Montenegro Airlines has earlier aired plans to add flights from its base at Podgorica Airport, Montenegro, to Nis.
