Feb 15, 2010 (newstodate): The JV at Navoi, Uzbekistan, between the country and South Korea is developing fast.
Under the agreement with Korean Air, two leased Airbus A300-600F freighters are now serving with Uzbekistan Airways from Navoi International Airport on routes to Milan, Brussels, Bangkok, Delhi and Mumbai, while new routes to Frankfurt, Dubai, Istanbul and Tel-Aviv will also soon be opened.
At the airport construction of a new cargo terminal is progressing, and the new facility is designed to handling of 30,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
Around the airport a logistics and tax-free zone compound is also in the making with chemical, oil, electronics, machinery building, and pharmaceutical companies moving in.
