Feb 10, 2010 (newstodate): Marking a decisive break-through for Lithuania's Kaunas Airport, Ryanair has announced plans to make it the carrier's 40th base - and its first in Central Europe.
From May 2, 2010, Ryanair will base two aircraft at Kaunas Airport and open flights to a further further nine destinations in addition to the nine already operated or announced.
By this move, Ryanair will challenge other airlines, notably Latvia's airBaltic that is also building up its traffic in Lithuania from the capital Vilnius Airport.
