Feb 02, 2010 (newstodate): Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Strigino Airport, serving the country's fourth largest city, is to find new owners, and plans are on the table for major investments in infrastructure.
Pending final political permission, the airport will seek new investors to team up with the airport in order to develop the airport's potentials.
The development plans will be presented in March, and a tender will next be opened to find the investor.
Plans will include the construction of a new passenger terminal and other basic infrastructure.
The airport serves as a major diversion airport for Moscow, and among the scheduled operators is Lufthansa that operates a route from Frankfurt.
The development of the airport was part of Russia's program for modernization of its regional airports, but the process was stalled during the economic crisis.
