Feb 05, 2010 (newstodate): Plans for the launch of a new low-cost carrier in Lithuania, Lithuania Express are still on the table, but no final decision has been made yet.
-The group of investors is still evaluating the situation, but the big issues remain unsettled, namely: will we go ahead, and if so: when, says Thorstein Gudnason, Lithuania Express Project manager, and himself a member of the group of potential investors.
-It is obvious that there are deep, ongoing changes in Lithuania's aviation environment and we certainly wouldn't want to fail once we decide to launch business.
-Another pertinent issue is the consistency of the efforts by the Latvian carrier airBaltic in the Lithuanian market. We have seen them coming on strongly before, only to lose the drive again as was the case when flyLAL was on the scene.
-At least it is pretty safe to assume that if we decide to launch business it will not, as earlier envisaged, occur during the early half of this year. But at present nothing is really settled, says Mr Gudnason.
