Feb 11, 2010 (newstodate): The Norwegian low-cost carrier Norwegian is adding further stress on its Nordic legacy competitors by announcing the launch of new intra-Nordic routes.
Effective from April 29, 2010, Norwegian will launch flights on routes from Oslo, Norway, and Stockholm, Sweden, to Helsinki, Finland, at rates that will attract both leisure and business travelers.
The new routes will be operated with Norwegian's Boeing 737-800, of which the carrier will take delivery of 13 units.
Norwegian plans to build its Boeing 737-800 fleet to a total of 70 aircraft by 2014, and is today serving about 220 routes.
The carrier saw its total passenger volumes in 2009 up by 18 percent, opening 63 new routes during the year including 18 in Sweden, 30 in Denmark and 15 in Norway.
