Feb 01, 2010 (newstodate): The project for construction of a new airport at Irkutsk, Russia, is advancing.
The new airport, reportedly to be built at Klyuchevaya, some 36 km from Irkutsk, will replace the current airport in the centre of Irkutsk that is often affected by fog and bad weather conditions closing down operations.
Preparations are now so advanced that the opening of tenders pertaining to the construction may be expected later in 2010, and construction works may then start from 2011.
The project was originally expected to start already two years ago, but the financial crisis has delayed the project launch.
