Feb 24, 2010 (newstodate): Moscow's Vnukovo International Airport has drawn up plans for a runway extension by 800 m to one of its two runways.
The airport's existing runways have a length of 3,000 and 3,600 m, respectively, but the longer of these must be extended by 800 m to allow for operations with aircraft up to the size of Airbus A380.
The handling of aircraft of this size will also require adjustments to the system of taxiways leading to the terminal apron area.
