Feb 16, 2010 (newstodate): The process of reorganizing Lithuania's three airport is progressing.
In November, 2009, a protocol was approved, and responsibility for the process was vested with Lithuania's Ministry of Transportation that is now working out documents for approval concerning the changes of the three airports' management, individual status and roles as part of the process to change their ownership and management.
-The work is progressing as planned, and the papers will be delivered by the ministry to the Prime Minister by the end of February for deliberation by the government, says Rimvydas Vastakas, Vice-Minister of Transport and communication.
-If passed by the government, the case will next be brought to the parliament for debate during the spring session, and if approved the issue will then be finally decided upon before the end of this year.
-In the plans is the proposal of setting up the airports as public limited companies owned by the state, and out-sourcing the management of the airports, either in one package, in two packages or separately for each of the airports of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga, says Mr Vastakas.
