Fewb 11, 2010 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has announced Tehran, Iran, to be their next new destination in the Middle East.
airBaltic will open flights from Riga to Tehran from June 8, 2010, offering three weekly rotations with Boeing 737 aircraft.
Tehran thus becomes the carrier's fifth Middle East destination alongside Dubai, Tel Aviv, Amman, and Beirut, and after Amman and Beirut the third Middle East destination announced in 2010.
airBaltic has said that it will open at least nine new direct routes from Riga in 2010, and has so far announced new destinations including Madrid, Belgrade, Vaasa, Umea, Beirut, Amman, Manchester, and Tehran - leaving only one more to fulfill the promise.
The new route between Riga and Tehran will provide a convenient link between the Baltic region, the Nordic markets, Northern Europe and Iran.
