Feb 22, 2010 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier is airing its interest in taking a share in the Estonian airline Estonian Air.
On TV, airBaltic's VP communications, Janis Vangs said that aitrBaltic is keen to acquire a stake in the Estonian airline as part of its plans for more direct flights out of Tallinn.
-Taking over a national company, a national carrier in Estonia is an option that we are considering. It is a fact that we have not been in negotiations, but we are open to negotiations in whatever form this is, Mr Vanags said.
So far the Estonian transport ministry has answered rather disinterested when asked about visions of a pan-Baltic airline that would necessarily build around the leading Baltic carrier, airBaltic as the nucleus.
