Feb 03, 2010 (newstodate): The Polish carrier LOT will become Europe's first operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner - but years later than originally planned.
In September 2005, LOT placed an order for delivery of seven Boeing 787 aircraft, later adding one more by a follow-up order in February 2007.
Initially, the first Dreamliner was slated to enter LOT's fleet by 2008 - but the aircraft program was haunted by several delays and snags.
LOT will now received the first five Dreamliner aircraft in 2012, and the remaining aircraft will follow till 2015.
And LOT will still be the first European airline to operate the aircraft.
The Japanese carrier ANA will be the first airline in the world to receive the Dreamliner, with the first aircraft to be delivered during this year's Q4, and with a further seven aircraft to join the fleet by the end of the airline's fiscal year, March 31, 2011.
