Feb 01, 20910 (newstodate): The new year opened with comforting cargo statistics from Denmark's Billund Airport.
Compared to January last year, the airport handled 17.1 percent more cargo, totaling 3,935 tonnes.
The totals included 2,175 tonnes of imports that increased steeply by 34.3 percent, and 1,760 tonnes of exports that increased slightly by 1.1 percent.
The progress is, however, to be seen against a drop by 25.3 percent in total volumes in January 2009 when imports dipped 21.7 percent and exports was down by 28.4 percent.
Imports have thus now recovered to 2008-levels, while exports remain at a low, still down by almost one-third compared to 2008.
