Feb 26, 2010 (newstodate): Meeting with the AOC on February, 25, Copenhagen Airport affirmed its commitment to finding a solution to the security problems with export air cargo on passenger aircraft from the airport.
-At the meeting we had the opportunity to make a common status on the situation and freely air proposals for a solution of the long-standing problem since the implementation of the zoned security at the airport from January 1, 2006, says Johnnie Muller, Copenhagen Airport Head of Security.
-Our security measures are in full accordance with the EU requirements and with the requirements of the Danish SLV, but we acknowledge that several parties in the industry have raised concerns and pointed to problems arising from the solution as it is implemented.
-At the meeting we agreed that Copenhagen Airport will now consider alternative models for solving the issues, including video surveillance, as well as a proposal from DHL that points to the possibility of a procedural approach, and these alternatives will be forwarded to SLV for joint negotiations including all interested parties.
-The problems must be solved, but it will require time both to freeze the final solution, and next to implement it. In either case costs will also be involved and we will need to look into this also, says Mr Muller.
