Feb 10, 2010 (newstodate): Air India is seeking a cheaper alternative to Frankfurt Airport as its European hub, and is reportedly considering several options.
The carrier may establish a cooperation with Aer Lingus at Dublin Airport that will serve as a convenient European stop on its routes between India and North America.
Other viable alternatives for Air India are Copenhagen Airport, Denmark, and Vienna Airport, Austria.
A special attraction of Dublin may however be the facility to finish US entry formalities, allowing Air India passengers to enter US airports without queuing up for entry formalities.
Air India set up its European at Frankfurt only in March, 2009, but cost considerations are driving the carrier to consider other alternatives.
