Feb 09, 2010 (newstodate): Lithuania's second-largest airport at Kaunas saw strong growth in passenger volumes in 2009.
With 56,700 passengers handled in 2009, Kaunas International Airport saw its volumes increasing at 11.3 percent, y-o-y, and thus set a new record.
The growth is driven by the sustained development of Ryanair's network at the airport that now has eight destinations served by the low-cost carrier that will add the 9th destination, Bristol, from May 3, 2010.
Besides Ryanair, only airBaltic currently operates into Kaunas on its route from Riga, Latvia.
