Dec 03, 2010 (newstodate): With seven daily flights between Oslo and Bangkok, Thai Cargo is among the main providers of cargo uplift in the Norwegian market.
-From October, Thai Airways International shifted from Airbus A340-500 to Boeing 777-200 on its flights to OsIo, and this is an ideal aircraft for us, says Henning Arboe, Thai Cargo manager in Scandinavia.
-Depending on passenger loads, the aircraft will carry some 18-20 tonnes of cargo, and with daily rotations from this winter's schedule this is a significant offer in the market.
-The Norwegian salmon export is of course a key driver, and we transfer salmon shipments via Bangkok to other Far East destinations including Singapore, Japan, and Korea. But we carry general cargo, ships spares, drilling equipment and other commodities as well to achieve a balanced mix in the cargo compartment, says Mr Arboe.
Thai started operating flights to Oslo from June 15, 2009, topping the Scandinavian services that also include daily Boeing 747-400 flights to Copenhagen and Stockholm.
