Dec 22, 2010 (newstodate): A new 1,000 sq m air mail terminal has been opened at Russia's Yekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport.
The airport plays a significant role in Russia's air mail logistics as well as serving as a central transfer point for air mail shipments between Europe and Asia, with some 30 routes with up to 21 daily flights transferring air mail shipments at Koltsovo Airport.
On an average, the airport sees about 85 tonnes of air mail shipments a month, and expectations are that this year's total volumes will exceed 1,000 tonnes of import and export air mail.
The new terminal is built on a state-of-the-art concept, adhering to strict security requirements for all types of mail shipments.
