Dec 21, 2010 (newstodate): The new Danish project for a direct air link to Florida from next summer, Comefly, is materializing as planned.
-Our plans have met with huge interest in the market, and many people have registered their interest in booking seats with Comefly. These pre-registered guests will be able to book flights via our website from tomorrow, December 22, 2010, while general internet sales will open one day later, says Steen Normann Petersen, Comefly general manager.
-Effective from June 14, 2011, Comefly will operate 20 flights to Florida from Aalborg Airport and another 20 flights from Copenhagen Airport, with the aircraft routed Copenhagen-Fort Myers-Aalborg-Fort Myers-Copenhagen.
-The aircraft is an Airbus A330-200 on a full-charter contract with Monarch, and Monarch is thus handling all affairs pertaining to the operation including permits, slot times etc.
-We take this project launch as a first step in a process that may also later be extended to include other leisure destinations such as Mexico, the Caribbeans, Rio de Janeiro, the Maldives and destinations in the Far East.
-We are also very interested in attracting cargo business in the form of a contractor to take all capacity for onward sale or own use, and negotiations are being conducted, says Mr Normann Petersen.
