Dec 13, 2010 (newstodate): Dubai, in the Emirates, is successfully pursuing its strategy of building up bi-lateral open skies air services agreements on a global scale.
So far, Dubai has signed over 60 such open skies agreements, the most recent being the 60th and 61st agreements with Brazil and Panama, landed in November 2010.
The agreements allow for free and unlimited entrance into Dubai by any carrier from these signatories, but more importantly they allow the carrier Emirates to operate without restraint on an increasingly global scale, turning Dubai into one of the world's most important aviation hubs.
So far, the number of open skies agreements by Dubai has grown by five to six every year since the launch of the efforts by Dubai in the 80'ies.
