Dec 16, 2010 (newstodate): Georgia is opening a new airport on December 20, 2010, in the country's north-western region.
Mestia Airport, with a 1,120 m runway, will allow for year-round air traffic with smaller turboprop aircraft and helicopters to serve the tourist and regional traffic needs.
A new passenger terminal has been constructed, and the airport is designed to the capacity of handling one aircraft per hour.
Systems Interface has been contracted to implement a Nautel Vector VR500 NDB system complete with Antenna Tuning Unit, Surge Protection, Remote Control and Monitoring, Battery Back-up, self-supporting Antenna and Shelter at the airport.
