Dec 01, 2010 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo has now announced a series of freight-only flights between Helsinki and important intercontinental destinations.
The flights will all be operated with Finnair's Airbus A340 passenger aircraft, offering a cargo capacity at 55 tonnes in the absence of passengers during the strike period.
Today Finnair Cargo will thus operate one rotation from Helsinki to Beijing, and one rotation to Tokyo Narita.
On December 2, 2010, Finnair Cargo has scheduled A340 operations from Helsinki to Shanghai and New York, and on December 3 the company will operate from Helsinki to Shanghai, Narita and Delhi, while flights from Helsinki to Beijing and Shanghai will be operated on December 3.
Besides, Finnair Cargo will operate its weekly Saturday A340 all-cargo flight between Helsinki and Frankfurt, also on December 3, 2010.
Finnair Cargo's MD-11F cargo services to Hong Kong, Seoul and New York are continuing according to schedule, unaffected by the ongoing strike.
-So far we are operating with no major backlog, but the situation is indeed tense, says Milla Nyholm, Finnair Cargo marketing manager.
