Nov 01, 2010 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport has now opened its new pier dedicated to serving low-cost traffic.
Named CPH Go, the new pier lives up to its name as it requires passengers to walk an extra 300 meters from the main airport terminals to reach the waiting area devoid of comfort and amenities.
So far only one low-cost operator, easyJet has moved its business to the new low-cost pier, which is reportedly satisfactory to the airport.
-If it had been filled up from the start, that would indicate that it had been built too small from the outset, one airport executive said on Danish TV.
CPH Go was earlier named "CPH Swift" - but renamed, maybe taking the long walking distances into account..
Lurking in the horizon is the construction of a new full-service low-cost terminal project, to be financed by private investors once their complaint to the Danish competition authorities has been met.
Copenhagen Airport has so far refused to allocate land to the project.
