Nov 17, 2010 (newstodate): The Serb carrier JAT has obtained rights to operate flights from Rome, Italy, to Portoroz in Slovenia.
The flight builds on 5th freedom rights as the route originates in Belgrade, Serbia.
The operations will be launched in the coming few months, and will be operated with ATR-72 aircraft.
Portoroz Airport, with a 1,205 m runway, was added to JAT's route network this summer and operated on a seasonal base only.
Plans are on the table for a major renovation of the airport in the near future, including expansion of its runway to 1,80+0 m, allowing it to handle aircraft up to the size of Boeing 757-200.
There are currently no other scheduled services at the airport.
