Nov 12, 2010 (newstodate): A major player in Finland, Panalpina sees a sound business case for Finnair Cargo's decision to launch Transatlantic freighter operations.
-Seen from a Nordic and Scandinavian perspective, the are loads of export volumes into the US market, and the volumes are growing these days, says Ari Ruuskanen, Panalpina Finland sales & project manager.
-On the other hand, imports from the USA to the Nordic markets are more limited and would not warrant a balanced operation, which has been the experience shared by many operators and start-ups.
-What makes the business case sound is, however, the growing importance of the our neighboring Russian market that has grown by more than 20 percent month by month during the recent period. The booming Russian market and its demand for imports will enable Finnair Cargo to achieve the crucial balance between east and west-bound flight operations, says Mr Ruuskanen.
