Nov 30, 2010 (newstodate): Romania is to seek EU funds for development of its airports.
The country will specifically target the development of airports with less than one million passengers as these are especially in needs for a major upgrade to expand services.
Romania has a total of 16 airport, only two of which - Bucharest Henry Coanda Airport and Bucharest Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport- have more than one million passengers per year.
If the application goes through, Romania will set up projects for runway and apron reconstructions, allowing them to attract more traffic with larger aircraft.
