Nov 30, 2010 (newstodate): The privately-owned Macedonian carrier Airlift Service is in financial strains after only few months of operation.
The carrier has reportedly been ground due to growing debts to Macedonia's ATM authority, causing authorities to suspend the airline's operations.
Airlift Service, based at Skopje, obtained its AOC in May, 2010, and is owned by Skywings Macedonia, a subsidiary of the German tour operator Skywings.
Its fleet comprises one Boeing 737-300 on a dry-lease agreement with a Slovakian company, used on flights from Skopje to Copenhagen, Brussels and destinations in Germany.
