Nov 09, 2010 (newstodate): Since March 2010, Danish trucking company Jumbo Transport has been providing airline trucking services through a new company, Airline Services at Copenhagen Airport.
Heading Jumbo Trucking Airline Services as managing director is Soren Holsbo, who came from a position as operations manager at Haugsted AirCargo Services.
-Our prime clients are cargo GSAs representing airlines, and forwarders that request our services. We are still to land our first direct airline customer, which will certainly mark a milestone, says Soren Holsbo.
-Still in our first year of operations, we are of course not the largest provider of airline trucking services, but we consider this an asset as it gives us an edge in flexibility and the ability to provide customers with tailored services. We are well positioned in the Scandinavian markets but have no strategy of becoming a pan-European provider.
-Together with our mother company Jumbo Transport, we provide a tight network of Scandinavian and south-going scheduled trucking transport, and another major asset is Jumbo Transport's East European division that grants us access to a range of important destinations in this region. This also comprises offices in Tallinn and Vilnius providing a Baltic presence.
-We are located at the premises of DHL Aviation, and through an agreement with this company we can offer an integrated transport and handling contract, with DHL Aviation providing the physical handling of the airfreight, says Mr Holsbo
