Nov 19, 2010 (newstodate): Avion Capital Partners, along with strategic industry investors, have concluded the purchase of the remaining shares in the Lithuanian airline UAB Avion Express, based at Vilnius.
The 10 percent stake was held by Per Weithz, the part-owner of Avion Express, earlier named Nordic Solutions until its bankruptcy in 2008 when the majority of the stake was acquired by the Icelandic Avion Group.
The carrier operates a fleet comprising four SAAB340 cargo and passenger aircraft on ACMI and charter basis for various European clients.
The long-term strategy is to develop the airline as a wet lease specialist, and Avion Capital Partners and Avion Express will be working closely with lessors in utilizing distressed or troubled assets, and to offer a range of flexible and competitive solutions to airlines.
