Nov 11, 2010 (newstodate): Despite Korean Air Cargo's decision not to re-open flights at Sweden's Luleaa Kallax Airport, efforts will continue to attract freighter operations to the Far East.
-We must admit that we failed, but we are continuing our efforts, says Ola Nordstrom, Kallax Cargo Airport.
-We are convinced that there is indeed a market for uplift of fresh salmon, produced in the northern regions of Norway for export to China and Asia. These export shipments are now either trucked to Helsinki in Finland, or to Oslo, which entails long lead-times for the exporters.
-We did have commitments from Norwegian exporters, but the airline pulled out at short notice.
-Right now I can see no immediate solution, but we are working together with Swedavia to identify a partner willing to route a freighter through Luleaa Kallax Airport, says Mr Nordstrom.
