Nov 23, 2010 (newstodate): Icelease, a subsidiary of the Icelandair Group, is still in the market for sale of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner positions.
The company initially placed a firm order for two Dreamliner aircraft, with options for five more aircraft, later changing two options into firm orders in April, 2006.
According to the current time table, the first Boeing 787 will be delivered in November 2012, one more will follow in 2013, and the remaining two aircraft in 2014
One of the aircraft has been leased to Air Niugini from its delivery in 2014, but the remaining three units are still on the shelf.
-The market for the Boeing 787 is booming, so I do not foresee any problems in placing these aircraft with other operators, says Kari Karason, Icelease general manager.
-Our efforts are currently focused on this issue, negotiations have been undertaken with various potential customers, but there is still no final decision.
-In the meantime we are not adding further aircraft to our portfolio, says Mr Karason.
