Nov 11, 2010 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo has announced the opening of a new Transatlantic freighter flight from Helsinki, Finland.
Effective from November 19, 2010, the company will operate a weekly MD-11F service to New York with its single MD-11F aircraft that is already operated on routes to Hong Kong and Seoul.
Finnair Cargo has earlier served the Transatlantic market in cooperation with other operators, including Emirates, via Gothenburg in Sweden.
Finnair Cargo launched its freighter service to Hong Kong on May 12, 2010, now providing three weekly rotations to Hong Kong and two weekly flights to Seoul.
Finnair sold its two last MD-11 aircraft, one of which was converted to freighter version, to a US leasing company, taking back the freighter aircraft on a leasing contract, while it has yet to be seen if it will also take in the second aircraft that was also converted to freighter version after the end of this year's summer schedule.
