Nov 30, 2010 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo is fighting hard to keep the cargo traffic going despite the cabin crew strike that has taken effect from this morning, bringing most of Finnair's passenger traffic to a halt.
Finnair Cargo's freighter flights will be operated normally, except for today's operation on the Helsinki-Hong Kong route that will be canceled due to operational reasons.
Much of Finnair Cargo's loads are carried on passenger flights, however, and the cancellation of passengers flights will have an impact on this segment.
Finnair Cargo is, however, setting up special European cargo flights with passenger aircraft to compensate for parts of the short-fall of capacity.
Finnair Cargo is also forced to place an temporary embargo on all special cargo.
Only general cargo is accepted at the moment.
