Nov 12, 2010 (newstodate): EU already publishes regularly updated airline blacklist naming carriers banned from its airports due to slack safety standards. Now a similar blacklist on airports may be on the table.
The initiative for a list of airports around the world not adhering to EU security standards as to airfreight security has been taken by the German minister of the interior, and a five-point proposal has been delivered for consideration by EU's interior ministers at a forthcoming meeting.
A decision on whether to carry forward the proposal is expected to be reached on December 2, 2010.
