Nov 11, 2010 (newstodate): Estonia's Tallinn Airport has still not recovered from its year-long slide in air cargo volumes.
In October 2010, the airport handled a total of 1,143 tonnes of cargo and mail, down 59.9 percent, y-o-y.
While airfreight exports rose 52.9 percent to 172 tonnes in October, this did not outbalance the steep drop by 66.7 percent, y-o-y, to 884 tonnes of import airfreight that mainly consists of ex-China exports to Russia via Tallinn Airport.
For January-October the total volume was 10.023 tonnes - down 40.1 percent, y-o-y.
Signs are, however, that the Turkish logistics company ULS Logistics will again grow its traffic through Tallinn Airport, now handling some three weekly A330F flights after a prolonged pause due to Russian customs changes.
