Nov 09, 2010 (newstodate): The Danish carrier Cimber Sterling has shelved its announced plans for opening a new route between Copenhagen, Denmark, and Istanbul, Turkey.
The route was to be launched with two weekly rotations from November 2, 2010, but has been put off the list again.
-After the pull-out from the Danish market by Transavia, a new window of opportunity opened for Cimber Sterling and we decided to allocate our resources elsewhere, says Signe Thorup, Cimber Sterling communications manager.
-Istanbul will, however, remain on our list of destinations to be opened at a later date when aircraft capacity becomes available. Right now all our aircraft are fully occupied during the winter schedule.
-We are now engaged in drawing up plans for the next summer schedule 2011, and we may take in our seventh Boeing 737-700 aircraft by then, opening new options, says Ms Thorup.
