Nov 26, 2010 (newstodate): Going against the prevailing trend in civil aviation, the Czech government has decided to merge the carrier CSA with the capital airport, Prague Ruzyne Airport.
The two business units will now be set up under the state-owned entity Cesky Aaeroholding.
CSA has been running in the red for quite some time and only survived through divesting of its non-core businesses including building and service companies.
Expectations are that CSA will be able to stand on its own again from 2012, and new efforts to privatize the carrier will then be made not later than 2015.
Earlier efforts to sell the carrier have ended fruitlessly.
