Nov 10, 2010 (newstodate): Azerbaijan's cargo carrier Silk Way Airlines has purchased a Boeing 747-400F freighter from Cargolux.
The certification of the aircraft - the first Boeing 747 on Azer registration - will be completed today, November 10, and the aircraft will then be released for commercial service.
According to industry sources, the carrier plans to add a second Boeing 747-400F in 2011.
Silk Way Airlines, set up in 2001, is based in Baku and operates a fleet comprising 11 IL-76 and three AN-12 freighters.
