Nov 16, 2010 (newstodate): SAS Cargo's handling arm, Spirit Air Cargo Handling is seeing a positive development in volumes in the Swedish market.
-Obviously, 2009 was a disastrous year for everyone in the business, but the market has really re-bounced in 2010, says Bjorn Kardell, SAS Spirit Sweden managing director.
-As we draw closer to the end of this year we are seeing volumes back on 2008-levels after a strong growth by 20+ percent in 2010.
-We are all anxious to see this positive trend sustained in 2011, and provided no extraordinary negative events occur I would expect a return to the more normal three-to-four percent monthly increases in volumes through next year, says Mr Kardell.
SAS Spirit Sweden is shortly to move its business to a new 15,200 sq.m cargo terminal at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, doubling its annual cargo handling capacity from the current 100,000 to 200,000 tonnes.
