Oct 21, 2010 (newstodate): The Chinese word for crisis is weiji, combining the two characters wei, danger, with ji, opportunity. This seems to illustrate quite well the experience gained by at least one Danish freight forwarder.
-2010 will be a really good year for us, not just because of generally increasing business volumes and airfreight loads, but also due to lessons learned in the preceding years of crisis, says Jens Davidsen, Kuehne+Nagel director airfreight Denmark.
-During the crisis period, all procedures and processes were evaluated, all costs were assessed and all outstanding issues were addressed.
-As a result, we emerged from these difficult years with leaner practices and enhanced productivity. These experiences have proved their validity and are now contributing significantly to the positive results in 2010.
-It was a hard time, but we learned the lessons. In this way the crisis certainly had not just dark sides, but bright potentials as well. In 2010 we will end up at levels considerably better than not just 2009, but also 2008, says Mr Davidsen.
