Oct 22, 2010 (newstodate): Western-made aircraft are needed by airlines in Russia and CIS - but Boeing is downgrading its sales expectations.
In earlier market analysis, Boeing foresaw the need for new aircraft to replace Russian and CIS carriers' obsolete fleets of Soviet-built aircraft to be 1,050 till 2028.
In its latest analysis, Boeing now expects these markets to take in "only" 960 new aircraft till 2029.
In today's situation, the proportion of western-manufactured aircraft in service with carriers in Russia/CIS is 25 percent, but this quarter of the total fleets transport some 80 percent of the passengers.
