Oct 18, 2010 (newstodate): Ukraine expects to complete the ongoing modernization of the country's Kirovograd Airport by mid-2001.
The project has been on the agenda for years, but work is now progressing on the construction of a new passenger terminal and work on the airport's second runway.
The airport has one 1,300 m runway, and the project has included the extension of the second runway from 1,318 to 2,000 m, allowing the airport to handle aircraft up to the size of Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 Family aircraft.
So far, only charter flights with aircraft up to the size of Yak 4o and AN-24 aircraft have been operated at Kirovograd Airport.
